This page documents an official policy on the English EQ2i. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all users should follow. Please do not edit this page without first ensuring that your revision reflects consensus . When in doubt, discuss it first on the talk page .

This page in a nutshell: Delete obvious spam, unused redirects, or pages created by mistake.

This is the Deletion policy . It describes when it's appropriate to delete pages and how to mark them for deletion by an admin . The deletion policy dictates what should and shouldn't be deleted from this wiki.

Good reasons to delete pages Edit

Many good reasons exist to delete pages. Pages considered candidates for deletion typically contain:

• no Everquest II related information or has very little chances of becoming a real page. For example, a page with just "wow i love qeynos so much don't you? lol" will not go anywhere.
• advertising or spam. Posting random websites or things like " Google is awful; try Brand X Search Engine free for 10 days!" doesn't help the wiki grow at all.
• nonsense text. For example, pages with titles such as "dahoshagohfoug" or "haovhauhgbovaov" do not belong on this wiki.
• clear copyright violations. Using images or text from a website that clearly states the information must to be used only on their site should be avoided at all costs.
• useless or incorrect redirects. For example, one like #REDIRECT: [[That one guy in Freeport]] doesn't help anyone.
• useless or incorrect categories, like a "poop" category.
• useless or incorrect templates, like a "poop" template.
• information solely in another language. This wiki is English, no other languages are allowed.

Note: User pages can be deleted only if the user requests it . It is impossible to delete an account, though the user page can be deleted.

Bad reasons to delete pages Edit

Some pages really shouldn't be deleted, no matter how wrong they appear to be. For example:

• Stubs . Stubs, no matter how small, could one day become useful articles. Instead of marking a stub article for deletion, mark it with the {{stub}} template. Or better yet, expand it!
• A page that requires cleanup to meet EQ2i standards. These pages are just in need of attention, they do not need to be deleted. If a page doesn't meet with the standards, mark it with the {{wikify}}template instead. Or better yet, expand it!

How to mark a page for deletion Edit

1. Click the edit button for the article that you feel needs to be deleted.
2. Place the deletion template tag at the very top of the article - type exactly {{Delete|reason}} as the very first line of the article.
   • This will place a large banner at the top of the page notifying visitors that the page may be deleted in the near future.
   • Remember to replace "reason" with the reason why you feel this page needs deletion. Pages marked for deletion but without any supplied reason are likely to be rejected and left as is.
3. Save your changes. An admin will review the deletion, typically within 24 hours, and take the appropriate action.
