Blogs. Yea or nay?

Wikia has a new blogs system (a whole new one, not the old one as seen on halo.wikia). Simple question: Do we want in on this? (We're on the first wave opt out list, waiting on some technical testing due to some other problems.)

But even the people who opted out, still get the shiny new masthead seen on User/User_talk. Which means you can set your avatar icons. A reminder that we have a ton of images you use, if you want game stuff in Category:Images . Like race+gender heads , god logos , and subjobs (a small note, the avatars are global, so what you pick here, is seen everywhere)

Would also like to hear any comments on proposals on policies pertaining to them. Most wikis are adopting a general "keep it on the subject of the wiki" type stance on them. What say you? -- Uberfuzzy 17:37, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I can live without it. I don't really see the point to the blogs... theres lots of places dedicated specifically for it. I don't necessarily see anything wrong with them per se, so long as we make it clear that they are A) the creation of the user and basically considered an extension of the user's page and B) limited to EQ2-related posts/blogging only. I remember when this actually used to be just a wiki, instead of the combination wiki-forum-blog-can_opener-orange_juicer-swiss_army_knife that its growing more and more into. Thats my 2cp. -- lordebon 18:55, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
After reading up about it a bit more, I'm moving my vote to "No." I was originally under the impression that it was a semi-separate system, but seeing as it is basically just using another namespace... I don't see enough value in it. EQ2i is about info for the game, not a repository for fan faction and stories that a "blog" system would be useful for. -- lordebon 15:23, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

No - blogs are irrelevant to forum content imo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dizzzy2 ( talk contribs ) 12:18, 8 July 2009 (UCT)

Personally I don't see the point at this wiki but if people really wanted it, we could do it. I could see some people and guilds without a regular web presence or blog wanting a place to document some of their conquests and that might be one way to use the blogs here. But I think the vast majority of people use this wiki as reference only, not a social networking site.-- Kodia 14:17, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Nay - don't think this is the place for blogs. -- Daear 06:17, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Besides the fact that Sony provides both webspace and a forum facility for all guilds, I don't believe it's the function of this wiki to do so. Blogs don't seem to fit into the objectives and are in any event of interest only to a limited number of people, not the Norrathian population as a whole. Daysy 14:16, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

" blog " from wiktionary : website that allows users to reflect, share opinions, and discuss various topics in the form of an online journal while readers may comment on posts. (The Urban Dictionary definitions are a lot more scathing.)
eq2i is for information, not opinions. If comments are needed, we have talk pages, or even strategy pages.
Obscure/regional acronym deleted Say "NO!" to blogs Janze-Nek 08:32, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I think at this point it is safe to say that consensus has been reached: No blogs at EQ2i. It appears that we have already been excluded from the initial roll out as well. I would like to thank everyone that commented for doing so, some times its very difficult to get an idea of what the general wiki-using community wants, but here it was pretty clear thanks to your comments. -- lordebon 12:52, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
