Maybe this is existent but I don't know enough to find it. I've noticed tons of spells or at least the ones I use aren't updated for gu52. What I want to do is create a list of all those that aren't up to date to work on them.
I'm thinking the way to do this is adding the category into the template for the outdated ones thereby making all using that template go into that category. Is this the correct way and how does one do the catg's correctly? If this is correct and I have permission to do it I'd like to know how and if its correct but I can't do it, can I have it done?
Thanks. Jfisher446 03:32, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
- There's already a couple of categories for the spell-upgrade process =). See Category:Spells using the old SpellInformation template (for spells using the old template, which are pretty much all pre-GU52) and Category:Pages using the old SpellEffectsLine , which should be a similar set of spells (here those where the SpellEffects haven't been updated to the new template). The way these work is that we moved to a new set of spell templates, so the old spell templates (ie Template:SpellInformation and similar) were updated to automatically include the category. Thus all pages that use one of those old templates gets put in those categories for tracking. As you can see, there's quite a few that still need updating (~1400), but that's actually only a fraction of the total spells that had to be updated (3~4 thousand as I recall). If you need any help in how to convert the old pages to the new template just let me or an admin know and we'll be glad to help. It's good to see you really diving into things here, we always like to see folks interested in editing the wiki =) -- lordebon 03:45, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

- Can we rely on the values from in-game item links? For example, I'm trying to update Abandoned_Fury_II . In-wiki, it shows 50-83 damage at the Journeyman level. Using an item link from Allakhazam, the tooltip shows 36-61 (viewing as a brand-new L1 Dark Elf Inquisitor). My main question is: what is the best way to get accurate (unmodified) values in game to put into EQ2i? (I've looked through various Help topics here but couldn't find anything about this) Thanks - Xhiris 02:14, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

- Shooting from the hip (proverbially speaking), the tooltip may be altering the damage amounts either due to being level 1 or due to being the wrong class... However, I can still understand your frustration. I struggle sometimes with being satisfied that information I enter into the wiki (for spells, etc) is the proper data. It gets harder to input exact data the higher level and more developed a toon you use to collect the data (what with racial abilities, character traits, gear and so forth which can modify casting times, reuse times, damage amounts and more).
- Personally speaking, when I hit a wall of doubt about any datum I would like to enter into the wiki, I load a level one alt to double-check (much as you've done here). But there's a point where you just need to accept that your information could have minor flaws, I think, and submit it anyway. If other users find the numbers too flawed, they'll contribute corrections and eventually the data will be close enough to true for everyone's satisfaction. However, having said all this, IF anyone knows a solid way to get accurate and unmodified information, I'd be more than happy to learn something new today! -- Mysterious drake 03:24, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
