Turning a mob is an essential tanking skill (technique) where upon you rotate the mob exposing their flank to your scouts and other group members.

To turn a mob, step into the mob once you have gained their attention (agro). The mob will rotate position as they maintain focus on you.

The advantages of turning a mob include:

  • You can more readily determine that the entire mob is focused on you.
  • Your scouts (and others who have their best attacks when flanking their target) will be in prime position for attacking.
  • You enable your group to engage quicker, maximizing their DPS.
  • Any adds will agro to you and not your scouts.

As tank, your primary responsibility is to maintain agro on the mob, adding some additional DPS as you can. Reserve your power and be patient as the other group members kill the mob.

It should also be noted that by turning the mob you are protecting your group/raid from the frontal cone AOE's that many high level mobs have. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daemondred ( talk contribs )
