Image as tooltip?

Is there a way to have an image as tooltip, eg. when hovering the mouse over a link an image should be displayed instead of the name of the link? This is for example the case for the quest rewards at zam's wiki. It would also be helpful for the AA imagemaps, where I would rather see some ingame screenshot of the ability instead of the internal wiki link description.-- Alinor 13:03, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Hmm i don't think so :/ -- Chillispike 13:13, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
No idea if zam's wiki is also a mediawiki, but it *is* possible obviously and I hate the thought they have/can something we can't :-) -- Alinor 13:52, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I think it's a mix of a wiki and a other database which allows such a feature, i think i try something =) -- Chillispike 14:21, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

You can do it with some tricksy javascript. Not sure if theres a pre-made bit for mediawiki, but it'd be possible but it's always a bit of a kludge using javascript. It would also increase image load and link complexity (you would either have to use a special linking template or make a base change to the wiki code that would add a lot more load, I'd say). So I'd say it's theoretically possible, but Zam probably has a different system designed more for that kind of thing. -- lordebon 14:24, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Ok, first, it is not *that* important to me :) Before stuff is broken, I'd rather skip it. Nevertheless it is interesting to me for learning etc. I have found something at another wikia gaming site here http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Template:Tooltip and http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Tooltip-Map . It seems by "just" creating that template it could work already? Can I create own templates at all, preferable in my own sandbox?-- Alinor 08:02, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

I played around with that but in a other way, how about User:Chillispike/Sandbox#Test loot preview ?
Intention is that you klick on a mob and then on his loot to see his drops.
About the tooltip, would take a lot of work to add it for every quest and named :/
Yeah a sandbox is the bestplace for trys like that.
I think you will prolly need 2 pages, you could use User:Alinor/Sandbox for the side where you use the template and User:Alinor/DevTemplate to for the tool tip template it self -- Chillispike 10:01, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
How did you get the user template included?? I want to include User:Alinor/Template:Testtemp on User:Alinor/Testpage for testing, but with no luck. -- Alinor 12:30, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
dont exclude 'Template', use {{User:Alinor/Template:Testtemp}} -- Vraeth 12:46, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
