How is it supposed to be handled, when a mob acts as an NPC during quests? Zhao Wu is an example, a 60 ▲▲▲ Heroic that gives and ends a quest by talking to him. Is Template:NamedInformation to be used with Related Quests filled in, or is Template:NPCInformation the way to go, with the "monster" stats added under the info box?

I lean towards the monster template, as a monster will always be a monster but not always a quest-giver, but must ask if this has come up before and, if so, is there a guideline for it? Janze-Nek 06:48, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

My thinking on this is that if it starts out as a monster (ie attackable) then thats the template it gets (ie the Named template). If it starts out and spends most of its live as an NPC (ie unattackable) but turns attackable as part of the quest it gets a NPC template. I wonder if we could add level and con-modifier to the NPC template as optional arguments for the NPC-turns-to-Mob case... -- lordebon 12:25, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

I believe that right now we use both the NPC and Named template with a disambiguation, but inconsistently so. For example Scholar Al'Quylar (I keep wanting to call him Al'Qualude). I'm extremely hesitant to add monster attack info to the NPC template because common users will be confused. I think only power users will get the difference. -- Kodia 13:27, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

I think if it's an NPC that will turn into a mob on a certain condition, we should create seperate articles. For example, Rukir Pineleaf is an NPC article, but an article should be made at Rukir Pineleaf (mob) or Rukir Pineleaf (MOB) for the mob.

But, what about places like The Pillars of Flame where almost all the NPCs, including the vendors and quest givers, are also attackable? Is it true that named mobs generally drop a treasure chest? And if it is, would it be possible to test whether these mobs are nameds or just regular mobs with names like the Mistmore vampires? McJeff 22:55, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
