I was looking at an earring and noticed that the article icon didn't match the examine window icon. Poking around showed only 13 Earring Icons listed. While I'm sure icons in other categories have been used without having the Earring Icon Category tag added, it still seemed like a low number. By using the broker, the Earring list here and LootDb's little numbers, I found 175 earring icons (and I'm sure I didn't find them all).
Do you (general you, everyday editors as well as Admins) want those icons, and all the rest of the Equipment icons that are missing? I can see yes and no:
- Yes , the icons will complete the equipment articles that have been tailored to look like the in-game Examine windows;
- No , too many resources will be eaten if every article had the correct icon - the Defaults in existence now work fine.

Hi Janze-Nek,
you have probably seen this category: Category:Equipment Icons . It was started awhile ago and I have been adding some icons. But I eventually stopped, because there are so many different icons ingame, it just takes too long. There is also a problem with the background of an icon. It seems to change when you attune the item.
So I would certainly like if we had the correct icons for the different items. If someone wants to add more icons, it would be great. But I'm also okay with the default icons since I know how much work it is adding icons and then adding them manually to the equipment. -- Airlyth 07:08, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I had not considered time and/or effort. Having thought about it, yes, such tweaking would be intensive, but not a negative
IF
. If the library is already extant, editors of new articles can find the appropriate icon immediately. Tweaking articles already in the database can be be done slowly by those editors inclined to do so, or when revisiting old articles to modify other things. Creating and uploading the icons can happen the same way. As you have already pointed out, such libraries have already started.

The rarity of the unattuned item dictates the background color of the icon in the Examine Window:
- Black = Common
- Green = Uncommon and Handcrafted
- Blue = Treasured and some Mastercrafted
- Brown = Legendary and some Mastercrafted
- Red = Fabled
-
Purple
= Mythical
- (Long-time players probably already know all that; I add it for those who might not have realized it)

If
holds true all the way through, it will be possible to have the same foreground up to six times. (I counted a silver hoop with black ball 5 times in the 175 icons, on 5 different background colors.) The LootDb numbers bring up an examine window ingame that shows unattuned items, and of course the broker items are also all unattuned. Finding unattuned items in game to shoot icons from was actually very easy with those two tools. Making, uploading and linking all those icons will require that time and effort you mentioned - which is an editor's choice to do if a consensus favors it (and if the storage allows it).

While trying to add more icons there are a couple of things I found out.
- Some icons are used more than once. For example an earring icon may also be used for a ring item ingame.
- When different people upload icons, the quality and the size is going to differ. For example, there are some icons uploaded by Cusksis that have a frame around them while most other icons don't.
- Last time I talked to Uberfuzzy we decided it would be best to leave out the different backgrounds and just concentrate on the icons themselves. You can read our conversation here . He said there that he plans on uploading all the icons eventually. But I think he won't have time for that very soon. So if anybody else wants to it, it's fine with him, I think. Anyway he might be able to help making changes to equipment with his bot.
- I don't know if the icons are stored on the client or on the server. If they are stored on the client, it might be possible to get the data from there. It would be alot faster then.
At last I want to say, I would love if we had all the correct icons. But it is going to be huge project and this is why I stayed away from it. But if you want to tackle it, it would be great. And of course I would be happy to help if it's possible. -- Airlyth 07:06, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
