Greetings EQ2'rs
I'm coming from many different games, mainly FFXI and WoW. But my first ever MMORPG was EQ1 ... back in the beginning.
I am now looking to possibly re-join the EQ field of play with EQ2. But I have some questions.
Firstly: Is there a package deal out there that includes all of the different expansions and adventure packs? I kind of get the feeling that the Sentinel's Fate one does, but it's not worded or described as such. I mean it does say that you have access to all of the prior stuff, but does that mean it comes with it and that would be all that I need to purchase? or does it just mean that if I were to get that expansion I am not limited to just that area.
Secondly: What server would best be suited for me to use a trial account on to see how much I like the game, I would be looking at wanting to get into a social guild as I like to talk with people that aren't all crazy about doing raid stuff. Basically I want to play the game for fun, and possibly do some raiding eventually, but not get all hard core into it. I've done that focused group and schedule thing on both FFXI and WoW and it's drove me away from those games completely. (That and the constant RMT junk)
I see that there are servers set up for those people that do want to partake in RMT activities, but do the other servers get inundated with advertisements like WoW and FFXI have gotten recently?
Ok, I think that's about it... Twitter me @kinamkrindar would be great.

- Yes, purchasing Sentinel's Fate (via whichever method you prefer ) will give you everything-at-once access to all current and previous game content. As for which server? Well that's a tougher decision to make... A good place to start would be to choose whether or not you'd like to play PvP or PvE -- both have pros and cons which you'll need to weigh for yourself. Then, decide if you'd like to join a server with (or without) a specific focus and enthusiasm for immersive roleplaying at all times while logged in. These choices will help narrows down what servers may or may not be best suited to your playing-style desires, and from their the community can give you a better suggestion!
- Welcome back to Norrath! And welcome to the wiki too. -- Mysterious drake 19:38, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

- Thank you greatly for the welcome back ^^. I think I got my fill of PvP in EQ1 when I was on Tallon Zek. Open PvP hasn't really been that appealing to me since then, no matter what MMORPG (except my recent stint in Fantasy Earth Zero, which was 99.9% PvP to level or do anything LOL). So more than likely I'll go to a PvE server, I have yet to try out an RP server, so may take up on AB server (as I've seen some events or whatever happening on twitter for that server so it seems like it's pretty active) but perhaps that could be solid'd out with a trial period. Not being on a PVP server and not being interested in the activity, I'm told that the Battlegrounds (we really need an article on this) experiences are close enough to "get it out of your system" once in a while for those people with an itch to PVP. I can't personally verify this. I can tell you that questing and lore and decorating (so sue me!) are the most enjoyable things I do. Aside from updating the wiki, that is. :) BTW, welcome to the game and the wiki!-- Kodia 21:05, June 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Aye, thanks for the welcome from you too ^^. Yea, if I feel the need to kill other people, I usually go shoot'em up method on some FPS (can't wait for Natural Selection 2). Now all I need to do, is scrounge up the $40 to get this off Steam, and hopefully find a job or get an increase on my VA Disability so that I can afford to pay the monthlies. - My two cents on Battlegrounds are that you're not missing anything, Kodia. =P
- Sure, it's a nifty concept, and sure there are lots of EQ2 players who enjoy them. But honestly, they're taking team-based play-mechanics from First Person Shooter games and inserting them into an MMORPG... And something about that really makes me twitch. I'm used to playing proper shooters, where everyone has equal health and equal movement speeds (runspeed, in or out of combat) and equal weapon (spell/combat art) availability -- and thus, where outcomes are determined by skill with a rifle scope or escape plans, etc... Not where outcomes are determined by the strength of your spells, your base stats, what kind of armor you're wearing or what class you are. O_o
- For me, I cannot play BGs as a Templar. The sheer concept of standing still -- whether it be in a concealed placement, or in the middle / wide-open areas -- to have to cast anything goes against every fiber of my FPS-playing being. Not only that, any skill I might have is negated by the fact that my class doesn't have the DPS capability to attack or defend successfully without help (so I can't guard a flag, or go one-on-one in deathmatches). And despite being a templar, my heals aren't strong enough for me to cast my reactives and go running, nor do they last long enough (without me needing to stop [refer to the above comment on stopping to cast] and recast anyway)..
- Anywho, /end personal rant. They're fun, they're just not for me. =P -- Mysterious drake 08:49, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
