I was going to create a Item type for relic gems and link it to the relic armor page but the Item template seems to not recognize the category "Relic Gem". Here is an article I made as an example Immaculate Sapphire .

It might have something to do with the way the item template adds the "(Item Type)" to the end of every item category. Is there a way to bypass the item templates parsing of the input value and just add in a item category directly as typed?

I also think it would make sense to consolidate the relic gem charts into a centralized location. Either on the Relic Armor page or the Relic Gems page.

The three charts I'm talking about are:

• Relic Armor by Subclass and Slot
• Relic Gem Needed by Archetype and Slot
• Relic Item Needed by Armor Type and Slot

On having the template drop the (Item Type), no and it's not intended to be able to drop it, that way all categories of those types stay together and are similarly named. I have created Category:Currency (Item Type) for all items which are used as currencies on vendors and Category:Relic Gem (Item Subtype) for relic gems. I've updated the immaculate sapphire accordingly.

As for the tables, you could probably copy them to the relic armor category if they're collapsed inside {{HideDiv}}s , otherwise I think they would make the page way too long for a category page. -- lordebon ( talk ) 01:04, January 13, 2014 (UTC)

I understand. I may work on incorporating those gem charts at some point with the hidediv collapse thing. I'm not sure why wiki doesn't let you call them spoilers ;p

The currency Item type makes sense also. I wasn't sure what to label them as but knew it needed some kind of category tag. My main question wasn't about removing the (Item Type) but more about why when I typed in the word "Relic Gem" as a type the template broke down. I think the template has an error when it encounters a white space. It seems to work fine on subtype with a white space.

I was wondering because if I encounter a situation where I want to create an item type category in the future I don't have another error with the template. Jado818 ( talk ) 15:39, January 13, 2014 (UTC)

Oh, Relic Gem as an item type didn't work because item types are validated by Template:NormalizeItemType . If someone puts a type in an item template that isn't considered valid by the normalizer it messed up. I've fixed it to be a little more informative about when the provided type is invalid.

As for the HideDiv, that's just the name I chose for the template when I originally made it. I didn't want to call it spoiler because while things like that are commonly used to hide spoilers its useful in more circumstances than just hiding spoilers ;) -- lordebon ( talk ) 19:14, January 13, 2014 (UTC)
