I discovered a problem with Unused files . Images that are autolinked to the article are still in the list of unused files.
Example:
- A kingsnake shows File:A kingsnake.jpg
- Currently it's image Unused Pic number 126

fix
this i think we need to make a unvisible link the image that is used somehow, so the image knows for sure that it's used. Any Idea how to make such a link? :/

its just the cache i think. i saw that you recently moved that image to match the article name. if the image is created/moved later than the article, it takes time till it recognizes an article linking to it. but if you do it the other way - create the image and then create the article -, it will recognize it immediately. if you check
File:A kingsnake.jpg
again you see it is in use now, i just went and edited the article and saved without any changes, and the image is now updated. so there is no need for invisible links --

- Yeah i know, but it could be that the manual save of the article fixed it.
- When i moved the files i saw an other Pic that was in Unused but it was used .. Problem is i forgot which one it was :/
- I will take a look at the unused tomorrow again because then the most should be used by then.

- It's not the cache. It's a longstanding 'issue' of the wiki software that images called by default name by the templates (ie, when a page automagically uses {{PAGENAME}}.jpg. Unfortunately, since so many of our images are like that, the UnusedFiles special page is useless. To my knowledge there is nothing that can be done, unless you really want to remove the autoimage code and change all those pages to direct image name references. -- lordebon 14:32, February 15, 2010 (UTC)
