The 3 or 4 mobs in front of him are not grouped with him (or each other) and can be body pulled down the ramp. They are very social so don't be surprised if more than one (or even Japalatook'tei himself) join the engagement. There's one flying mob that just wants to join in the fun, let him! Get rid of these before engaging Japalatook'tei.

This is a fairly easy "burn or beat down" mob with one exception. When he gets low on health he'll start spawning soothseers to heal him. Burn down the soothseers as they spawn to prevent them from healing him and then you can finish killing him. The longer the soothseers stay alive, the more health he regains.
