Having cheated a powerful necromancer by the name of Gloomwalker out of some coin for disposing of his companion, Lord Dessel's life was payment for his debt, and for centuries became Gloomwalker's most prized pet, until he too found death, releasing Dessel from servitude, but not from his curse.
