My Legends of Norrath story

In the very beginning of my life as Unloveable I did not really understand the benefits of Legens of Norrath. I would only have collected my five monthly promo packs wondering if I was going to get a loot card this time. For quite a while I was only getting house items like paintings and tapestries, but in spring 2012 I received an illusion that boosted my riposte damage and put a physical mitigation shield on me. That was unlike anything that I had received before and made me think of what else could be gained from the LoN loot cards and how to improve my chances of getting loot cards in the first place.

However, I did not play LoN until July 2013 when the activity on the Oasis server decreased so much that there were no pick-up groups running for weeks! I was bored and decided to play LoN with one of our guild leaders. We both did not know anything about all these decks, quests and how to destroy each other, so it took ages and created big confusion. After a couple of matches like these I decided to learn how to play properly and went through the in-game instruction process. At the end of it I got an achievement and dinged a level up. It made me curious and I tried to find out what system of achivements LoN has. I thought it could be similar to the EQ2's system where you gain achievement points just for the sake of the points themseleves (and on a rare occasion for a suffix or prefix title and a set of armor). However, LoN had a more generous offer - by boosting up your achievement points you level up and each level increases your chance of getting a loot card by half of a percent.

I went down the list of the achievements that could be made and started to work on them. It included solo tasks (one-on-one fights against AI at three levels of difficulty: easy, medium and hard), duels against other players, 2-people and 4-people raids against AI. There was also an achievement for joining a guild (in LoN you do not need 6 people to set up a guild), so I joined "", which ranks third in terms of a number of the accounts across all the servers. Now I am a level 16 Loremaster and my chance of getting a loot card is 8%!

WIth the cards that you buy in the LoN online store (or get for free every month) players can build multiple card decks, which signify an adventure archetype - fighter, mage, scout, priest. Each one can be either evil or good (shadow or light in the LoN terms). I have all 4 archetypes both shadow and light, which makes 8 decks in total. My first deck was a light fighter named Unloveable, because I built it on the basis of my EQ2 character - a good-aligned brawler. However, nowadays I enjoy playing the light priest deck the most! This deck is very versatile and is almost impossible to kill!

Another interesting feature of LoN is trade. There is no money concept, everything is done on a barter basis amongst players from all the game servers. If you want a paricular card, a pack or an event pass (if you reside in the USA and have an event pass, you can participate in the tournaments where you play against other players and get medals, experience, loot cards, etc.), you need to post a trade where you offer something in return. If the owner of the item that you would like to buy finds your offer interesting, he or she accepts it and the deal is done. Just imagine if the EQ2 players could trade gear in the same manner!

I have been playing LoN for 6 months, but every day I discover new amazing little features of this game! It has multiple layers of content, it is challenging, it requires skills, it is rewarding and it is fun! So if after reading this article you feel like trying LoN, do not hesitate contacting me if you see me online!
