This is what the ice looks like when you get close to it. It condenses into the pillar structure and is easier to see. It does NOT look like this if you back away from it.
This is what the ice looks like when you are at a distance. It is nearly impossible to see and cannot be tracked using tracking scrolls. It can be ANYWHERE on the ice and this was down below past the mobs. Get on your flying mount and start flying back and forth until you get close to it and it will be easier to spot since it changes shape.
