I downloaded this program called autowiki bot and I figured out how to set it up to log in here on the eq2 wiki. I might poke around with it some in the next week or so and try messing with a few sandbox pages here until I get the hang of it.

The interface seems rather intuitive though. I won't be doing any major bot changes on the wiki without prior approval but I hope it's ok if I mess around on a few sandbox pages so I can learn the program. Jado818 ( talk ) 00:24, March 2, 2014 (UTC)

Update March 2nd Edit

Ok, so It appears auto wiki browser is designed for use with internet explorer. There may be a way to use it with other browser but I think I'll try to learn it with the default settings first before I use it in other browsers.

Making a list of articles seems simple enough. You can even load a csv file and use that as a list, so if I need a more complicated list I can probably write a small program to generate a list.

I was able to append the words Hello! to these 5 sand box pages. I'm going to mess around with some of its other functionality now. I think the wiki asks for a minimum of 1 second delay between bot edits but I'll set my bot for 8 to 10 seconds. No need to rush if it's just the computer doing the work. Ok, I figured out the find and replace portion of the bot. Lets see if I can tag some of my sandbox's with categories or add that recipe merchant template I was thinking about for the recipe articles. I wonder if there is a way to add in a custom update notes besides the preset drop down list for bot edits. Jado818 ( talk ) 14:57, March 2, 2014 (UTC)

aaannnd It appears all i have to do to change the update notes is type in the box. I was able to append the Tradeskill Recipe Merchant Template onto a few test pages. It really is a simple enough bot run if you approve it. Just add the template to the bottom of the page. Then I can go through and update the list of current recipe merchants. I'm done messing with the bot for today though. I don't really like to poke with stuff unless I have a reason to or I'm trying to learn something and it seems I now could add the template to the pages requested if approved.

You have conditional approval to use AWB for adding the recipe merchant template. If it turns out well you can register a separate bot account and then apply for bot status , just follow the instructions on the bot policy . AWB is what I use for User:Barx-Bot , it's only semi-automatic so it doesn't require as much rigorous testing as a fully automated bot might (we don't have any of those currently, and I don't know that we'd need one). -- lordebon ( talk ) 16:26, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
Will do, it seems to be working as intended. I'll apply for a bot status so I don't overload the updates list with bot made changes. I tagged all the carpenter essential recipe books. There are still 8 other classes level 20 - 95 essential recipe books to tag with the template. Jado818 ( talk ) 21:40, March 2, 2014 (UTC)

Renamed sandbox pages to "Sandbox" and blanked them out. Jado818 ( talk ) 23:54, March 9, 2014 (UTC)
