How Was Frequency Determined?
Edit
The steps say, "You need to gather 10 pyrorock sand which can be found from any ore node in Kunark, but drops more frequently from Pyroclastic clusters in the Skyfire Mountains in Jarsath Wastes." How was this determined? Are the loot tables REALLY different for Skyfire nodes (which I find implausible) or did someone just get superstitious about a RNG streak in Skyfire? -- Sigrdrifa 22:51, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Also, is it REALLY '"any ore node"', or just hard ore? --

- It's probably any "hard ore" node -- the "soft ore" nodes are often referred to as "soft ore" or "stone nodes" while the others I've most commonly seen just called ore nodes. -- lordebon 23:59, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Here's some real analysis, from the Yeti Caves above Teren's Grasp. It took me 1 hour and 5 minutes to harvest ten of the dusts on my mystic, who is a level 35 weaponsmith and thus equipped only with a Sandalwood Pick.
I'm going to say that trying to get these from Skyfire is possibly the most inefficient way ever, simply because there are so many fewer nodes available and the dangerous wildlife you have to battle to get them there. Based on this analysis, I will be editing the main article to remove that recommendation.
Type | # Collects | % Collects | # Items | % Items | Avg Items/Collect | # Rares | % Rares |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
deklium cluster | 54 | 27.69% | 106 | 25.67% | 1.96 | 0 | 0.00% |
ferrite cluster | 37 | 18.97% | 96 | 23.24% | 2.59 | 0 | 0.00% |
incarnadine cluster | 1 | 0.51% | 1 | 0.24% | 1.00 | 1 | 50.00% |
mineral salt loam | 39 | 20.00% | 79 | 19.13% | 2.03 | 0 | 0.00% |
pyrorock dust | 10 | 5.13% | 10 | 2.42% | 1.00 | 0 | 0.00% |
rough fire emerald | 1 | 0.51% | 1 | 0.24% | 1.00 | 1 | 50.00% |
rough kunzite | 51 | 26.15% | 114 | 27.60% | 2.24 | 0 | 0.00% |
smoldering material | 1 | 0.51% | 1 | 0.24% | 1.00 | 0 | 0.00% |
And Lordebon, you are correct in guessing that it was hard rock ore. I received the dust only from hard ore, although it's smart to harvest all the nodes so you have a better chance of hard ore nodes when it all re-pops.

Removing Admin Needed and Wikify Tags
Edit
I've removed the AdminNeeded and Wikify tags from this page due to discussion and planned changes to the way epic weapon quest information will be handled in the near future.-- Kodia 18:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Shade
Edit
The below reports were moved here from the main page and replaced with a bug notice.
2 Nov 2008 - The Hidden Vale is level 80 required to enter. Not sure why, or if they just changed it, but Shade did not go invis for us, never had to use the eye for the fight and got my update and epic.
11 May 2009 - Shade did not go invis for my group either.
16 Jan 2010 - Shade DID go invis for my group. Maybe they fixed it? -- Mellian 14:12, January 17, 2010 (UTC)
