Copy Button Edit

Would it be possible for this template to automatically generate a small button to click that would copy the location to the user's clipboard? (like LootDB has the button to click to copy the item link to the clipboard) -- Sage Locano Aredium of Antonia Bayle ( talk / contribs / images ) 19:23, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

uid variable Edit

What was the purpose of having to put in uid=#### as opposed to just putting in the number? -- Sage Locano Aredium of Antonia Bayle ( talk / contribs / images ) 16:50, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

UID and QuestInformation Template Edit

If the uid variable is put in place in the QuestInformation template under 'starting the quest' it breaks the template (see Scaled Salutations . -- Sage Locano Aredium of Antonia Bayle ( talk / contribs / images ) 19:35, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Decimals? Edit

Would it be appropriate to have a policy not to post decimals for locations, and to remove them for any locations already in the wiki. The added precision they give is not really needed (locations are often just general vicinity anyway), and the extra numbers look cluttered. -- Sage Locano Aredium ( talk / contribs ) 03:18, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

once again, you bring up a very good point. it is a good idea, one i've been kinda wondering my self. i dont know about "policy", as people will put in what they want. also, policys depend on 2 things: a) people reading them b) the majority of the people following them. good luck on either. i'll poke at kodia, see what she has to say about this.
i might be able to recode the template to trim off the decimal places when it displays, regardless of the input (maybe) -- Uberfuzzy 17:10, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Personally I like the decimals, it allows for the oh so crappy shimmering trail to be somewhat accurate for items that need to be clicked for quests. sometimes if it's a item on a table it matters for the decimals. also Uberfuzzy brings up a good point in trying to get people to agree and use it. I'd keep the decimals there just for absolute accuracy on fixed items. -- Fireforkts 19:57, 22 December 2007 (CST)

This issue will be solved shortly (albeit several years after the fact). We're adding a way to have the decimals appear short but copy exactly.-- Kodia 10:11, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Why Use + Symbols in Locs? Edit

If we use + symbols in locations it's just one more thing for people to delete if they copy and paste the location over to thier map. Why not just have the template ignore the + symbols if they are added. -- Fireforkts 19:57, 22 December 2007 (CST)

added to my todo list. this template needs some work anyway, so its not that far off. -- Uberfuzzy 08:39, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Loc - right click copy not working Edit

This is really annoying can someone look into why this is happening - if it's any help i'm using chrome

Yeah, I noticed that too a few days ago. I think the method we were using is starting to decay due to upstream changes to allowed tags and html. Now that the in-game browser is something sane (and from this century) I'll see what magic I can do. If anyone else comes up with a solution before I do, drop a note here with an example link and I'll gladly cram it in place. -- Uberfuzzy ( talk ) 06:43, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
Bump
Still not working and sadly i have no quick fix for it :/

I took a look at this earlier in the year and couldn't come up with a good solution (or any implementable solution, really). The clipboard is just not meant to be interacted with from a webpage; the old way of doing it is less than ideally secure and security upgrades in browsers may be why it's brekaing more and more; it's also why you still have to hit copy to do it, since it only selects the hidden text for you to copy. It's doable in flash but I don't know about our ability to use that here on the wiki/wikia, and flash is buggier/less secure than most anything a lot of the time. -- lordebon ( talk ) 03:02, December 31, 2013 (UTC)
possible Workaround, so casual copy/paste works better at least:
{{Loc|-490|-40|-89|uid=597}}
Output current: ( -490, -40, -89 ) /waypoint -490, -40, -89 Eq2map
Output new text: ( /waypoint -490, -40, -89 )
