This Week in EQ2 - April 17

Hi everyone!

I'm here to share a Community Team story with you all, as well as point out some important stuff going on in EverQuest II this week.

First off, make sure you check out the patch notes from Tuesday and Thursday (yes, there were two scheduled patches this week). This doesn't include updates made to Beta for Scars of the Awakened ; you can find those patch notes on the official EverQuest II Beta Forums . Remember, Beta is still in full swing, and it's open to everyone -- have you signed up yet?

Also this week, make sure you check out the new player-created event, the Blood Moon Festival , happening on the Antonia Bayle Server . This festival runs from April 19-22. For more details and a message from the Mistress of Ceremonies, you can check out [ this article ] on EverQuest II's official website. Since this is a brand new event, please take some time to fill out your experiences with it here on the wiki!

We're also getting ready for SOE Live which will take place this August in Las Vegas! Need a little help getting there? You could always enter our Win a Trip to SOE Live - Video Contest! Share your convention and travel tips and tricks in a short video, and you could win two passes, roundtrip airfare, and hotel stay! But hurry, the contest ends on April 19th!

Now, for the Community Team story.

We all decided to get into game together one Friday afternoon and created brand new level one characters. As Community Manager, I got to pick our starting city, and I chose New Halas . We divided up into two groups -- one focused on questing (that was my group), while the other just went around killing as many mobs as possible.

There's my back. You can see some of the other Community Managers' new characters here as well.

This was also the first time I'd created a Freeblood . Interesting tidbit about the Freeblood -- it comes with a type of Appearance Weapon already equipped. All of the combat animations make it look like you're clawing at the creature with your hands. It's fun to take on A blizzard grizzly and look like you're ripping it apart. I know some folks aren't into this, and you can unequip the hand animations from your Appearance tab in the character window (which allows you to see your normal weapons).

When was the last time you created a new lower level toon? Have you been in each of the starting cities? Which is your favorite?

Join me next week for another update! And remember, if you have any ideas of what you'd like to hear about in this weekly blog, please let me know!
