I've been playing EQ2 since 2005. While I still get out and adventure, I'm primarily into crafting and decorating these days. I have one character of each class the game has to offer, but because I'm curiously prone to avoiding level caps, my highest adventuring character is hovering in the mid-80s. I have all tradeskills at max and even a few duplicates that may end up at max thanks to the allure of flying mounts. Not a single character is named Yasuewho. That moniker is a long running joke I've adapted and adopted to write here. All of this excitement and I'm still one of 3 active leaders for True North on Antonia Bayle

One of Yasuewho's many, many characters in EQ2.
I'm a trained technical writer, so ask me if you have any questions about grammar (everyone's favorite topic, eh?), punctuation, and all things English language. I suffer from bouts of "brain fuzzies" though, so even I make plenty of errors. Long ago I began insisting that Tyop is my second language, with German as a very distant (and incredibly rusty) third.
To say that I enjoy technical writing would be an understatement of epic ^^^ proportions; I enjoy it in the same way a musician loves to play an instrument or a painter loves to paint. Devotion to such tasks is not as romanticized as it should be. While so many want to write the elusive "Great American Novel," they overlook how important the Great American Manual can be, especially if it's written in International English. Think of that the next time you buy something new and find yourself cussing at the incomprehensible directions for use and assembly.
My Favorite Topics
Edit
Housing , Decorating Houses , and anything in and around that topic, like furniture.
I've made a point to take on various pages related to the topic of tradeskills. Those who craft in EQ2 (including me) tend to
loose
lose track of time and forget to add/update/clean up pages for...oh several expansions sometimes. Due to the this, I've been having a go at
Tradeskill
topics of all types, but lately
Tradeskill Alternate Advancement
and various quests for the
Far Seas Supply Division (Faction)
.
Why I May Take Forever to Finish Big Edits
Edit
Feb 2016: health took me out of the game for a long while, but I am currently back in EQ2 for the foreseeable future. I've also been drawn into Landmark and editing there during closed beta. Hopefully I can juggle both in the future.
(Or vanish, but let's hope not)
Without divulging a whole lot of very personal info, some of my fellow editors or admins may want to know that I suffer from a chronic, genetic condition that frequently brings on rapid onset of illness and major "brain fuzziness". It's not contagious from editing pages I work on, I promise! ;) It can lead to updates about updates that I am updating here or elsewhere though. No need for "so sorries" or other sympathy is asked for and I won't go into details here on my Talk page. It's not good, but it hasn't killed me yet and that's cause for celebration. If it slows me down in a huge way, I'll note illness in the section below or on my To-do page.
What I'm Currently Editing
Edit
- Mid April 2016 - just finishing up Player-written books per the request of some players who like them in theory, but who've been intimated by them and to settle some of the confusion surrounding them (by testing as I go). I'm not sure what I'll take a crack at next; my PC is wheezy and the new build is a couple months out.
Love housing topics? Talk page (not for the faint of heart) (click on Talk) where I explain it (changes in one central location) in great detail.
- Up next: Guild Hall and Guild Hall Amenities next, but currently filling in the missing info on Carpenter Special Recipe Books and related items.
- Travel updates still need to be double, triple whatever checked...
- The page for Ulteran Spires is still in the works, mostly due to outdated info on connected pages that mention travel by cloud in the Overrealms.
- Druid Ring should be mostly complete.
- Mariner's Bell is done. I collected all of the FP and Qey bell locations on the Mariner's Bell page to give any of us the chance to use an *Related pages that are also complete include Magic Carpet and Griffin Tower . I created a new page for the Globe of Swift Travel .
- Travel in Norrath -the goal was to explain the overall travel options in one place, more like a beginners guide.
- Mounts is a hot mess. Outdated speeds and other info will get major help. For now I pulled the general mount info from Travel in Norrath but will dig into this one after all of the spire and druid ring info is double checked.
- See my To-do List for a breakdown of topics and specific pages on my radar. I've found that both things and stuff get complicated as I edit, so I have a sandbox to make a mess in too.
Are you here to ask, "Why The Heck Are Travel and/or Housing updates taking so long? To see a (humorous) video of how I think/feel when making all of these connected edits, see Things to Do .
Need Help?
Edit
Pop over to my Talk page if you need help with something. Watching the edits roll by, it seems like we all have specialties and downright obsessions. It's a wiki though, so collaboration can be a great benefit to the overall wiki.
- I'm willing to lend a hand on most anything, provided I either have a good grasp on a topic or I can test it in-game to see if what I'm writing about works. I'm a sucker for working on topics that might confuse new or returning players without this wiki. If there's a user-manual style guide to be written, I'm the nerd who'll be excited to do that. I'm a firm believer in usability testing and willing to do that as well.
- I have the Adobe Pro Suite (CS5) so I can lend a hand if you want a specialized image and similar media. I'm a huge fan of UI design (almost went that route in college) and a believer in creating images that can explain or highlight UI details so they can nearly stand on their own.
- If a topic requires research I love that too. If I get back to my grad degree before I die of old age, I have my sights set on being a research librarian with a focus on the preservation of digital media (my tech writing focus).
Past Projects
Edit
I am not exaggerating about my passion for tech writing. To give you a sense of what I genuinely enjoy working on have a look at...
- My first major foray in editing here was an almost complete rewrite of the Housing info page, and the majority of the Decorating Houses page.
- My Feb 2014 complete projects were cleanups and near total rewrites that include Appearance , Cloaks , and adding a detailed, sortable table to the page for one Furniture NPC .
- In early to mid-March 2014: Housing , Housing: Availability by City , Prestige Housing and Standard Housing got some much needed tech writing nerd-love. Because it makes me insane to explain it over and over and the topic is complex, I added a page about Housing Item Limit and Building Blocks . There were many, many pages that I had my eyeballs on and edits all over as a worked my way around, all adjacent to those topics.
- Added EVERY SINGLE PRESTIGE HOUSE (gasp!) and put them in the long-overdue category: Category:Housing (Prestige) .
- Because I can not imagine the headache it is to keep it up alone on the forums, I adapted Jazabelle's post into the Housing Breakout Guide .
Did I Break That?
Edit
My wikifu is not bad, but I'm certainly not an expert yet. Give me time and I'll get there though. If you have any handy wikia secrets to share, please drop them off on talk my page. If I broke something, feel free to rant at me as well.
Random
Edit
A completely random thought or "factoid" resides below. If you've seen my occasionally zany edit notes, this section makes perfect sense. If I'm excessively bored (which is often when I am up too late) I may change this...
- If two witches are watching two watches which witch would watch which watch?
