Hello everyone!

This post concerns the proper naming convention for Vesspyr Isle crates (both dropped and quested) and seeks to find concensus and guidance for the proper nomenclature.

It appears that three of us (Jeff, Chilli and I) have inadvertently converged at the Vesspyr Isle crates (both dropped and quested). I received a dropped crate from Luminox and hurriedly put it in at Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core) with a wikify tag so I'd be sure to look at it later.

To further understand the situation, please read the following conversations and their related links.

  1. Chilli & I - User_talk:Chillispike#Ornate_Crate_of_Goods
  2. and - User_talk:Chillispike#Armor_Crates
  3. McJeff - Talk:Ornate Crate of Goods

I've currently been analyzing the quested crates (which are definitely different than the dropped crates) and they appear to be identical based on the zone. See screenshot below:

Paceyourself Crate Analysis 2014.05.02.001

Crate analysis

As shown, the quested crates are identical per zone whether they're from the dungeon or daily quest giver. The quested crates also appear to contain only armor pieces.

Reviewing the dropped chests , they appear to contain a random mish-mash of armor, weapons and accessories. I haven't been able to confirm it but I suspect they're zone specific too . I've used Lordebon's SOE API link to try and get a list of the "Ornate Crates" but have been unsuccessful. A list of these crates would be very helpful!

Based on my preliminary review it seems like two stub pages could be created (so that users looking for just the crate name could find it easily) and then list the the individual crates on that page. The drops could point to the stub page and the quest rewards directly to the item.

Summary:

Quest Rewards:

  • Chest Name (Zone)
  • Examples
    • Crate of Chain Armor (Vulak'Aerr's Dominion)
    • Crate of Chain Armor (Nexus Core)

Dropped Items:

  • Chest Name (Zone)
  • Examples
    • Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core)
    • Ornate Crate of Goods (High Keep)

FINAL NOTE: Chilli has mentioned the *Arcane* and *Potent* aspects of the crates. This appears to add additional complication to the naming. Users can see if the crate contains arcane or potent items by examining it OR we could place an identifier next to the crate outside the link.

i.e. Crate of Chain Armor (Nexus Core) - Potent

I look forward to your thoughts and suggestions! Paceyourself (sig) ( Talk ) 16:12, May 2, 2014 (UTC)

EDIT - Jeff also mentioned that the dropped crates are class specific. We'd need to add that to the mix too. Paceyourself (sig) ( Talk ) 19:23, May 2, 2014 (UTC)

The ornate crates are semi class specific.
the itemlink for cloth, chain, plate and leather is the same but you don't see the other classes.
So there are 3 possible ways to do it
  1. we make 4 Articles with them Zonename + Armor type with the same itemlink on all 4, which means we match the actual ingame look
  2. we make 1 Article with them Zonename, with the same itemlink on all 4 but with a tabber so you "swap" between the looks, which means we match the actual ingame look
  3. we make 1 Article with them Zonename and link every kind of reward in 1 Article and 1 Template without a tabber, which means we don't match the actual ingame look
for the Heroic crates
I think it's ok when we just use "Crate of Chain Armor (Zone name)", because the potent armor only comes from Temple of Veeshan zones anyway.
Means you can guess arcane or Potent by the Zonename
What do you think?

Hi Chilli!
Is there any way that we could get all the itemlinks for the *Ornate* drop crates in all their different iterations ? I like the tabber idea but short of questing until they ALL drop isn't optimal. If we could get the itemlinks and screenshots, then we could start determining the most desirable naming convention and appropriate layout for the lead page. I like all three examples but only after we start building will we know for sure...
I agree about the quest crates. They're better off with the "Crate of Chain Armor (Zone name)" convention and simply listed with the appropriate quest. No additional work would be required. I'll check back tomorrow. Have a great day! Paceyourself (sig) ( Talk ) 17:56, May 5, 2014 (UTC)
That's the thing with the itemlink of the Ornate crates .. there is just 1 itemlink of the crate per zone. so you just would need 1 itemlink and 4 different armor wearing classes to get the screenshots.

Hi Chilli!

For now it looks like all we need to do is setup the dab page for the *Ornate* crates and figure out the best way to delineate it. I vote for your number 2 above. Now all we need to do is define the name for the crates . I vote for:

Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core - Chain)
Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core - Cloth)
Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core - Plate)
Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core - Leather)

and then just allow them to redlink so that when a drop is found it can be added easily. It would also require you to rename my drop at Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core) (appears to be accessories and weapons only) and Jeff's at Ornate Crate of Goods (High Keep) (Chain) . Will you set up the dab page?

NOTE: I was a Mage upon my drop so I don't know what the deal is there... no cloth armor pieces?? Should it still be classified as *Cloth*? ROFL, this just gets more interesting and confusing... Paceyourself (sig) ( Talk ) 16:11, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

Check out Ornate Crate of Goods (High Keep) .. i made a preview there not sure if it's good way to handle it .. i think we may do 1 and 2 kinda ;) will test with the Ornate Crate of Goods (Nexus Core) for that. -- ChillispikeSig ( Talk ) 22:59, May 6, 2014 (UTC)
Vesspyr crate layout

Love it! Since we already have a dag page that's found when searching for *Ornate Crate of Goods* we just need to modify it to point to the tabber pages per zone and that would make it pretty tidy... See my mockup ---------->
Then we can use the iname field " Crate (Zone - Type) " in the tabber to populate the screenshot of the examine window. I think we're getting close! Paceyourself (sig) ( Talk ) 16:17, May 7, 2014 (UTC)
