What I see when I create a new page has changed. There used to be a whole lot of templates (equipment, armor, etc) that I could click on to populate the new page. Now I just get 'show this page with AA helper - Userpage helper - etc.
What do I have to do to get the wiki to drop in the Equipment template? (The big one, not {{Equip|...

- Just hit the "More +" button just to the top right of the editing area (not the one next to the row of little buttons) and it'll expand out to show the preloads. I changed things a bit to fix a bug or two in some of the related features, and another bug was fixed so that the preload buttons should now appear in a their old tabbed menu instead of as a long mess. -- lordebon ( talk ) 04:29, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

When I do that, all I see is
- This page does not exist yet. To create the page, start typing in the box below and click Publish when done.
- Show this page with: AA helper - Userpage helper - Wikify Helper - BlueStats Helper

- Please familiarize yourself with our Naming Conventions. These help us avoid creating duplicate articles.
- If you are starting a new page and need a template, click on one of the template preload buttons, below.

(I've faked the AA helper etc buttons in my example abovve). In the real edit window they work, and if I click on the Userpage helper button I get a second window below with this in it:
- Equip Item Monster Named NPC Spell
- {{subst:EIx}} {{subst:IIx}} {{subst:MIx}} {{subst:NIx}} {{subst:NPCIx}} {{subst:SIx}}
- But what I'm looking for is something that will drop in the various pre-customized EquipmentInformation templates (Armor, Weapon, Jewelry), and I can't find those under any of the main menu buttons.

The preloads disappeared for me late yesterday, although I assumed it was my computer messing up again. I've been getting the templates directly from
Template:EquipInformation
and
Template:ItemInformation
since then.

- That's also about when they disappeared for me, and it appears that it's an intentional change by Lordebon. Thanks for the link to the template, I didn't know how to find that page. On that template page it says one can use "{{subst:EIx} }", and that is one of the templates that is provided via the menus (see above) so I surmise there's some way to get that to expand to the full template, and so that's the only trick I am still missing.

- I found just by trying it that one way to do it is click on {{subst:NPCIx}} in the menu, publish the page with just that it in, and then edit it again. Publishing expands the template. But there should be a better way to just point at a template and say 'expand that now' that doesn't clutter up the page history with an unnecessary publish step. Like a button up with the bold, italic, etc, buttons.

- Sorry about that. The preloads are normally set up to only show when editing the main namespace (basically anything without a User:, Talk:, etc. prefix). When testing the changes I swapped the behavior so that I could verify the look of the preload tabber as I went, but I'd forgotten to change it back so they weren't showing properly. I did make some intentional changes to the ordering and whatnot, but it not showing properly in the article namespace was just a brain fart of failing to reverse that debug change. -- lordebon ( talk ) 05:11, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
