requires zones Edit

Hi, this is wrong: zone REQUIRED list of zones (comma seperated, with [[]]'s) where this monster is found for the zone there are no [[]] or it will generate an error /wrong output I think the same for location, maybe you can check User:Xinturaia

When Mobs are Removed from Game Edit

For historical reasons, we may want to keep information in game related to quests that can no longer be completed. Such is the case with Felzik Dursin who was originally part of the betrayal quest lines. Would it be worth our time to add a special field applicable in this case to the template indicating that the character is no longer in game or would it merely be better to note it in the special notes on a character's page?-- Kodia 22:35, 3 January 2007 (CET)

I have created the new tag, {{RfG|notes}} for this. We COULD add a field to the templates for Named, Monster, Quest... heck, almost all of them, and add some code to prevent category linking if RfG is not blank, but given how difficult changing templates has been lately I hesitate to try to do it. -- Florence Sopher of Lucan D'Lere ( talk / contribs ) 22:53, 3 January 2007 (CET)

That's as good a reason as any, to be honest. Thankyou for doing the work. I apologize for any perceived snarkyness in my comment regarding this.-- Kodia 00:58, 4 January 2007 (CET)

Contested Named Monsters Edit

To further strengthen our details about raid timelines (and to reduce the clutter on the Raid Timeline page, would it be to our benefit to mark a named specifically as "Contested" (as opposed to spawned) the same was eq2.raidmobs distinguishes between them? Or would it merely be simpler for me to run through all the contested mobs and slap a Category:Contested in their page?-- Kodia 20:54, 9 March 2007 (CET)

Broked EQ2Maps Image Edit

Whatever you did broke the little wheel image for the links to EQ2Maps. See Stiletto . -- Sage Locano Aredium ( talk / contribs ) 03:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Image looks fine to me.-- 68.62.10.143 05:34, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
wikia is currently having issues with the image servers, see front page. -- Uberfuzzy 05:40, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
You actually expect me to read the front page news? -- Sage Locano Aredium ( talk / contribs ) 21:50, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Level Low needed Edit

I've run across a number of Named monsters now that have multiple levels. Case in point: The Creeper . I've seen him now at level 10 and level 11 but he's technically a named. Can we add the levellow field to the named template so that I don't have to pick a level for a named mobs in order to keep it out of the Category:Tier 0 Named Monsters page when people try to put multiple levels in?-- Kodia 23:51, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

done (i think). its only going to do the tier linking based on the higher level tho. if you think that needs to be changed, let me know. -- Uberfuzzy 14:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
I think tier linking on the high level makes the most sense. It will help keep people from being surprised by a higher powered mob. Better to be pleasantly surprised than painfully so.-- Kodia 21:46, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Listing Random Loot Edit

I had an idea for revamping the way we list random loot. Namely instead of saying "Random Tier Adept 1's" we'd create a template called Random Loot which would take as an argument the tier of stuff the mob drops (level doesn't work... IE mobs in Labs are technically L7x but drop T7 loot and not T8). It would then link to a category page along the lines of Category:Random Tier 7 Loot . Items could then be added to the specific category either manually or possibly with an additional line in the proper template (for example a new arg of randomloot = that when null does nothing and when its a numerical value adds it to the appropriate category). The only oddities I foresee here are the upper guild status items (which don't change to "T8" versions until L75). -- Lordebon 14:35, 18 January 2008 (UTC) Oh, and we could also define a Shared Loot template as well that would take a shared-loot name as an argument for loot which is, for example, shared by all mobs in the zone would be entered in [[:Category: Shared Loot]]. I know Kunark is chock full of this shared loot stuff. -- Lordebon 14:37, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Our general rough policy was, afaik, to not list random loot at all. anything below legendary was just too much to keep up with for a wiki. lootdb and eq2llinks do a much better job of listing loot-to-mob and even loot-to-zone. some zone wide loot is tier wide, but not all. sony does not to make life easier.
a guide about zonewide/tierwide loot and also about how adept1/master1's are not mob specific (but level specific?), and how crafting books ARE level specific, might be good for something like Standard Loot or something. I'm going to work with kodia to draft an official policy/guideline on what loots we are/arenot listing (i know for sure crafting materials/adepts/masters we're not) -- Uberfuzzy 16:28, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Aha, I could have sworn the policy used to be to not list it. I agree that anything less than legendary for random drops isn't worth more than just saying "Random Treasure Chest Drop in Kunark" for example on the item's page. -- Lordebon 02:00, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Suffix Edit

Some named have a Suffix like Hoptor Thagglor is . Would it be worth adding this line to the template? -- Chillispike 05:40, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Maybe but what would keep people from using this for "Banker" or "Merchant"? How do you distinguish between the two? There are some in game that are essentially really long suffixes that amount to "Merchant".-- Kodia 05:45, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Those aren't technically suffixes. They're purpose tags, and are on a line under the mob's or npc's name. And actually some Bankers and Merchants have them while others do not. -- lordebon 06:49, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Npc's have the purpose line/Tag so they allready have it actually.
The thing is some Npc's ask to you to kill a named .. maybe like destroy the Ghoul Lord or so .. with a suffix line it would be possible to search for mobs like this maybe. -- Chillispike 06:55, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Right. It's the same exact tag, so I see no reason Nameds shouldn't have it in the template. -- lordebon 07:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Related Quests Edit

using * works for Special Attacks and for Reported Drops but not for Related Quests .
the first * stays as a * and doesn't get a dot like it normaly does. -- Chillispike 15:59, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

yeah, i know what that is -- Uberfuzzy 05:14, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

bfaction Edit

bfaction is still used in this template and i would like to remove it since the faction amount is more accurate when we use {{faction|x|+/-500|monster}}.
Ok if i remove the parameter from the template? (i can use my bot to correct the faction call if needed on the articles that use bfaction.) -- ChillispikeSig ( Talk ) 12:59, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Critical Avoidance and Crit bonus Edit

Should we add Critical Avoidance and Crit bonus to the template? -- ChillispikeSig ( Talk ) 15:57, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

How many things have it? or have accurate information? Maybe include it in the notes section below first? -- Uberfuzzy 16:29, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
Every instanced Named and monster (heroic and epic ones) in DoV has it, it's visible as buff on the mob with the values. -- ChillispikeSig ( Talk ) 18:31, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
Ah, never noticed that. Then yes, sounds like a good idea to add. Dont forget to add to the preload template also -- Uberfuzzy 19:48, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

Class Edit

For simplicity's sake, should we add a class field for named mobs that are always a specific class and use typical spells of that class? -- lordebon 17:55, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Bumping this idea. Please add class section to template. Jado818 ( talk ) 15:29, October 6, 2013 (UTC)

Altar of Malice Prepare Edit
